Master’s Program
Following is a partial overview of important information, and follow the detailed instructions in the attached graduate school guidelines.
Qualifying Exam
  • To submit one’s thesis, one must pass the qualification exam.
  • To take the qualifying exam, students must be enrolled for at least three semesters and have acquired 18 credits or more (21 credits or for clinical majors and counseling majors.)
Thesis Proposal
  • The term "Thesis Proposal" refers to a research plan that includes (a) background, (b) research questions, (c) significance of the study, (d) research methods and design, (e) data analysis plan, (f) expected results, (g) discussion, and (h) reference.
  • Thesis Proposal must be submitted to the department at least five days before the scheduled presentation date. It will be publicly presented and evaluated at a location designated by the department head.
Thesis Submission
  • After acquiring all the required credits, you must submit your thesis within 4 years.
Thesis Defense
  • An oral and written examination of the thesis content will be conducted by a committee composed of three professors.

  • To take the qualifying exam, students must be enrolled for at least three semesters and have acquired 42 credits or more (54 credits or for clinical majors and counseling majors.)
Thesis Proposal
  • The term "Thesis Proposal" refers to a research plan that includes (a) background, (b) research questions, (c) significance of the study, (d) research methods and design, (e) data analysis plan, (f) expected results, (g) discussion, and (h) reference.
  • Thesis Proposal Presentation is allowed only for those who have passed the qualifying exam.
  • After acquiring all the required credits, you must present your thesis proposal within 5 years. The thesis proposal should be publicly presented at a venue designated by the department head, after the examination committee has been appointed.
Thesis Submission
  • After acquiring all the required credits, you must submit your thesis within 6 years.
Thesis Defense
  • The doctoral thesis will be evaluated by a committee of five members, including three members from the thesis proposal committee. The advisor will be part of the evaluation committee.
  • For the selection of the thesis defense committee, it is mandatory to include at least one external expert from outside the university.
