Perceptual Cognitive Psychology

In the field of cognitive and perceptual psychology, the Department of Psychology at Seoul National University also explores experiential theories and experimentally validates mental processes such as perception, memory, attention, thinking, reasoning, emotion, language, and decision-making. Additionally, we conduct research utilizing cutting-edge technologies from a psychological perspective.
Some of the active topics include: the effects of debating and writing on learning, improving the appropriateness of peer-assessment methods, testing effects, virtual reality (VR) based interventions for enhancing empathy, empathetic artificial intelligence (AI), psychological mechanisms of human-robot interaction, color perception, multimodal perception and the perceptual self, embodied cognition, development of diffusion model analysis tools, and language information processing.
